      <image:caption>Filipino Martial Arts are many and varied though, when people talk about them, they typically mean the stick and knife styles referred to under the umbrella terms eskrima, kali, or arnis. The styles that we practice are Villabrille and Cacoy Cañete Doce Pares. These emphasize using the stick as a stick, rather than as a blade, as well as including basic striking and standing grappling concepts.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>The IMB Academy’s grappling program is a Checkmat affiliate. Our grappling class contains elements of wrestling and judo with a primary focus on jiu jitsu. The art of jiu jitsu utilizes superior leverage and body mechanics in order to establish a dominant position, maintain control and ultimately submit your opponent (joint lock or strangulation). This style of martial art lends itself practitioners of all sizes as it was originally created with a focus on smaller opponents defeating larger opponents. All levels are welcome.
